How To Create Recent Comment And Recent Post Widget Using Feedburner : Series 1


One of our readers Sauravjit sent me an email today asking that how to create recent post and recent comment widget using FeedBurner. Have a look :

Creating widget using Feedburner is very easy and looks quite attractive. So here is a full tutorial. This post is divided in 4 parts :

Part 1 : Explains you about how to create recent comments widget.

Part 2 : Explains how to put it in your blog.

Part 3 : Explains you about how to create recent posts widget.

Part 4 : Explains how to put it in your blog.

Part 1 : How to create Recent Comments widget using Feedburner :

Step1) First create an account on Feedburner.

Step2) Now under Burn a feed right this instant enter the following link and click on Next.

Note : Please change YOUR-BLOG-NAME-HERE to your real blog name. Have a look :


Step3) Now keep on clicking Next until you get this screen :


Step4) Now click on Skip directly to feed management.

Step5) Now in the Feed Management, click on Publicize tab at the top. Have a look :


Step6) In this tab, click on BuzzBoost in the left menu bar.

Step7) Just select your settings and click on Activate at the bottom.

Step8) Lastly, they will provide you will the HTML code for recent comments widget.

Follow the steps below on how to add this code to your blog.

Part 2: How to put Recent Comments widget in your blog :

Step1) Now you have the HTML code with you and mostly bloggers put recent comments in the sidebars only. Now to put this widget in your blog sidebar, first open Blogger

Step2) Now click on Layout and select Page Elements.

Step3) In this, click on Add a Gadget and select HTML/JavaScript. Have a look :

Step4) Now copy the code that you got in BuzzBoost in Step8th earlier and paste that code in the textarea by giving a appropriate title and click on Save. Have a look :


Step5) You are done !

Part 3 : How to create Recent Post widget using Feedburner :

Creating recent post widget is almost same as we did in Part1. But I'll explain this section also in detail :

Step1) Now login to Feedburner account and again under Burn a feed right this instant enter the following link and click on Next :

Note : Please change YOUR-BLOG-NAME-HERE to your real blog name.

Step2) Now follow the Step3 to Step8 in Part1 above.

Part 4: How to put Recent Post widget in your blog :

Step1) Now you have the HTML code with you and mostly bloggers put recent comments in the sidebars only. Now to put this widget in your blog sidebar, first open Blogger

Step2) Now follow the Step2 to Step5 in Part2 above.

Now you might be wondering why I have written Series 1 in the title. This is because in Series2 I'll tell you how to make this widgets more attractive using CSS (Style Sheets)

This is very helpful. i guess we can tweak this to be used for Wordpress as well.
